Wa West: Fidelity Bank gifts Dousi community with a 6-unit classroom block

As part of efforts to improve the educational infrastructure of the country, Fidelity Bank Ghana unveiled its sustainability project in education dubbed ‘Orange Impact Initiative’ at Duosi in the Wa West District to support 15 schools across the 16 administrative regions of Ghana.

The initiative by the prestigeous and leading bank in the country forms part of its 15th-anniversary celebration since its operations in Ghana.

The Bank under the orange project has on October 18, 2022 cut sod for the construction of a 6 Unit classrom block at Dousi in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives targeted across rural areas in Ghana and also to mark the commencement of the Orange project in the region.

Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony to commence the project, Deputy Managing Director in charge of Operations & Support Functions of Fidelity Bank Ghana, Ataa Yeboah Gyan said the bank’s decision to put up a six unit class room block in Dousi was born out of its commitment to making and teaching and learning conducive for both students and teachers across the country especially in rural areas.

He added that, the project is a 12-month long project and part of the bank’s global budget targeted at 15 places in the 15 regions of Ghana.

The Managing Director concluded that, the project will kick-start in December hence the bank expects the highest level of support from the community.

He indicated that the community was selected for the project through a native of the Wa West district, Zanko Naa Felicia, who hails from the area.

Applauding the bank for its gesture towards promoting education and having his community at heart, the Chief of Dousi, Bawa Seidu encouraged members of the community to put the facilities to good use when finally constructed and ready for use.

He also urged businesses and merchants in the region to continue to patronise the bank as a way of appreciating their efforts in developing the community.

Meanwhile, Municipal Chief Executive for the Wa West District, Hon. Diorotey Vida addressing the gathering, expressed gratitude to Management and Staff of Fidelity Bank Ghana for choosing Wa West District.

She added that, the District Assembly will contribute its quota towards the commencement of work till completion of the project in order for the the pupil of Dousi to have access to quality and affordable education.

On her part, Wa West District Director of Education, Mr. Amatus Tug-uu says praises to Fidelity Bank Ghana for the gesture.

He seized the opportunity and appealed to the Bank to furnish the building with tables and chairs when completed so that students can sit and learn.

The District Director of Education appealed to the bank to support the school with a computer lab in order to enhance teaching and learning of ICT.

Fidelity Bank is a commercial bank in Ghana which was issued with its Universal Banking License on June 28, 2006, making it the 22nd bank to be licensed by the Bank of Ghana. It is one of the twenty-seven licensed commercial banks in the country with its headquarters based in Accra.

As of January 2013, the bank operates 75 networked branches and 120 VISA enabled ATMs at various locations.
Fidelity Bank Ghana operates across 73 Branches and 115 ATMs across the country to provide world-class financial services to Ghanaians.
