The Upper West Regional branch of the leading telecommunication network MTN Ghana as part of giving back to society, on Tuesday June 13, 2023 trained market traders in the Upper West Regional capital Wa, on how to market their products and services effectively and efficiently using the various social media platforms.
They were also taught how to keep proper recordings of their transactions as well as been exposed to the fundamentals of financial literacy.
Salihu Mohammed Awal, Programs and Business Development Manager of NoniHub who facilited the training program, underscored the prudence of social media marketing stressing that it brings traders closer to the global market.
“Today’s program is an opener for the women taking them through social media marketing knowing very well the power of social media in this 21st century. It is very necessary that, we introduce the market women to social media so they can also exploit and get more benefit from it”.

He stated that, the traders were taken through online (social media) marketing using Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and other social media platforms in order to enhance their sales and open them to the global market.
“Today I have taken through Facebook marketing, I have also taken them through Instagram marketing I have also taken them through Twitter and a very important resource for them to learn and perfect their business operations which is YouTube”.
Mohammed Awal adds that, the training will change the mindset of many of the traders with smartphones from using them only for taking pictures and watching videos to that of using the phones to enhance their business operations in order to earn positive growth in their adventures.
“They have smartphones alright but this time if you are having a smartphone you have the entire global market in your hands but what do they do with it, they just go watch pictures and videos they don’t know what these phones can do for them towards their business operations but I believe, this training will change their naration on how to use their phones in future” Mr. Awal stressed.
Meanwhile, Upper West Regional Team Lead of MTN Ghana, Mr. Seth Nyamekye indicated that, as part of the MTN Ghana’s 21 days of yellow care, the network decides to empower market traders by training them on social media marketing, financial literacy as well as good customer care.
He says, the three key areas MTN Ghana trains the market women on will help boost their business operations and open them to the larger market.
“We are in our 21-days of yellow care, it is an annual event that we usually do and this year we are to empower the women through entrepreneurship, we took them through customer experience, we are also taking them through social media marketing and financial literacy. It is an annual event that we do and as part of our 21 days of yellow care we are giving back to society. So every year we take a theme and work on it and this year it is entrepreneurship and women in action that’s why we are training them to be able to use the skills and knowledge to expand their business operations”

Mr. Seth charged the traders to make good use of the knowledge and skills acquired through the training to develop their business potentials.
Meanwhile, Mather Kunbal, Owner of Mwinmaaluu enterprise, a vegetable dealer who took part in the training appreciated the knowledge and skills she acquired from the training adding that MTN Ghana has added value to her business.
“I was taught how to share my products on social media to get more customers and how to take good care of my customers, am very grateful to MTN Ghana” she stated.
Also, Madam Ayisha Rahman CEO of First Class Beauty Therapy told myradiowaa.com that she was taught on proper book keeping stressing that the new knowledge and skill bestowed her will boost her operations.
She adds that social media marketing will be one of her major tools in selling out her products and services.
The market traders largely women expressed their gratitude to MTN Ghana for the initiative and promised to put in to good use the knowledge and skills gained theough the event.
