Asiedu Nketia Rallies Grassroots as Three-Day "Thank You" Tour Hits Upper West Region

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has officially commenced a high-profile three-day tour of the Upper West Region. Arriving on Monday, April 20, 2026, the Chairman’s visit is centred on a "Thank You" mission following the party’s performance in the recent general elections and a strategic drive to consolidate grassroots support.

The tour, which spans from the Sissala belt to the regional capital of Wa, is designed to reconnect the national leadership with local stakeholders, traditional authorities, and the party’s rank and file.

The tour kicked off today in Wallembelle, within the Sissala East constituency. Addressing a sea of supporters clad in the party's signature colours, Chairman Nketia expressed deep gratitude for the region's unwavering loyalty.

The Chairman’s itinerary for the rest of the day included:
Sissala West (Bulu): Meeting with constituency executives and local opinion leaders.
Lambussie (Tapumu): A late afternoon gathering to discuss local developmental needs and party unity.

Political analysts view this tour as a critical move for the NDC to maintain its dominance in its northern strongholds. By physically visiting smaller communities like Bulu and Tapumu, the "General Secretary turned Chairman" is reinforcing his reputation as a politician who values the "foot soldiers" as much as the frontliners.

The Chairman is accompanied by a delegation of regional executives, including the Upper West Regional Chairman, Abdul Nasir Saani (Chairman Bunas), and several Members of Parliament from the region.

The momentum is expected to build over the next 48 hours with a packed schedule:
Tuesday, April 21: The delegation moves to the western corridor, visiting Nandom, Lawra, Jirapa, and Nadowli-Kaleo.

These areas are key to the NDC's parliamentary strength, and the Chairman is expected to hold closed-door meetings with traditional rulers to discuss the region’s development agenda.

Wednesday, April 22: The tour will culminate in the regional capital. Stops are planned for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa, Wa West, and Wa East, ending with a grand stakeholder consultative meeting in Wa Central.

Beyond the "Thank You" message, the tour serves a dual purpose to work on Post-Election Healing, and to address any internal friction following the 2024 election cycle will be dealt with.

As the NDC prepares for the next phase of its political strategy, Asiedu Nketia’s presence in the Upper West serves as a loud reminder that the party is not taking its "home court" advantage for granted.

Stay tuned for more updates as we follow the Chairman’s trail across the Upper West.
