The president of the republic, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has quizzed what exactly the former president of the republic, H.E John Dramani Mahama now flagbearer of the largest opposition party is coming to do after Ghanaians voted the NDC party out.
He was of the view that the former President will only be judged base on his track records of which he thinks the Ex- Prez Mahama has no positive record to boast of and to defend in order to get the attention of the Ghanaian voters.
“Our competitor is the National Democratic Congress, the party under its flagbearer that is seeking to return to power in Ghana, the question that the people of Ghana are going to ask in 2020 is, what are they coming back to do, what are they coming back to do, what is the programme of the National Democratic Congress under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, what was the programme, what is the record that they are coming to defend in 2020. 3.8% rate of growth, negative growth in agriculture, negative growth in industry, high inflation, high deficit, IMF programme, is that what they are coming to defend in 2020 and bring themselves to power, that is the programme the Ghanaian people has already rejected” he stated.
The president was optimistic that, with unity he and the NPP party will once again smile after the elections results are declared come December 2020.
He called on his party folks to foster peace and unity in their upcoming parliamentary primaries so that at the end of the exercise they can still stick together and celebrate victory in 2020 general elections.
“So we have the responsibility to stay together and with that I am very very confident by the grace of the Almighty that, on 8th of December, 2020 we are going to hear once again good news in Ghana here, electoral commission will declare a victory for the NPP’s presidential candidate and the NPP in the elections that are coming forward in the year 2020”.
The president made this statement at the NPP Delegates conference held in Accra on Sunday December 22, 2019.
