Party stalwarts of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Wa West District of the upper West Region, have on Thursday, August 9, 2018, dissociated themselves from the fertilizer pilfering in the district capital Wechiua. They made this known in a press statement issued and signed by the party constituency secretary, Mr. Hienbe Emmanuel Gyumah.
“ The attention of the constituency executive committee of the above mentioned constituency had been drawn to the fact that some stalwarts of our beloved party are conniving with the Agric officers to sell the subsidized fertilizer meant for planting for food and jobs to unsuspecting farmers at different prices” the statement noted.
Meanwhile, the party has stated with strong emotions that, they will not shield or intervene if any party member fall victim to the act. The party further entreated that, the security services should deal with culprits found in this act irrespective of their political coloration.
“We as executive board and our hard working Electoral Area Coordinators wish to distance ourselves from the act. The act is criminal and so we also wish to state unequivocally that any person or group of persons found culpable should be handed over to the security services for legal action. The culprits if found should be dealt with decisively to deter others from indulging in such maligning practices” the executive stressed.
However, the party has also encouraged the public to volunteer information to the security service to help apprehend the perpetrators.
The statement was issued after earlier reports gathered by Radio Waa 92.1FM revealed that some NPP party members were conniving with Agric officials in the Wa West District to sell the government subsidized fertilizer for their selfish gains.
