The Upper West Regional Chairman of the Ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Saanbeye B. Kangbere has on Saturday, August 25, 2018 offered residents of Mangu 20 trips of gravel to resurface the Mangu dam section of the Mangu Zingu road after the section has developed portholes making it not motorable.

The donation was made to the people through the NPP Regional Communication Director, Mr. Bukari Ali Kanjodunee, on his part; he revealed that the, chairman did the offer after a delegation was sent to him by Mangu community members to solicit his support after several calls made to the authorities proved futile.

“Mangu Assemblyman and his people some time ago came to the NPP regional chairman, Mr. S.B Kangbere and appealed to him, indicating that, the Mangu Dam section of the road was leading to their cemetery and due to the bad nature of it, whenever they are sending corpse to the cemetery they experience difficulties and would be happy if the chairman could help them with gravel to resurface that portion of the road, the chairman has done that by donating gravel to the people and that is why  you can see them working on the road this morning” Kanjodunee noted.

When asked whether the chairman was using party funds to do that, the Communication Director noted with strong conviction that, Mr. S.B Kangbere was doing it from his own pocket, adding that, this is not the first time he is doing such a thing, indicating that he has some time ago helped the Wa butcher house with electricity and currently constructing a borehole for the butcher house and that, all the costs are borne by him.

Meanwhile, residents of Mangu expressed their satisfaction with the Chairman’s action, noting that what he has done for them cannot be underestimated. “We will want to send our gratitude to the NPP chairman for what he has done, in fact we are amazed with this offer” Hawawu, a resident revealed.

The Assemblyman for Mangu electoral area, Hon. Alhassan Mahama, also noted that, if not for the intervention of the NPP chairman, it would have taken them a long way to get this kind of help to work on the road, adding that, the Chairman has come to their aid at the right time as the road access becomes worse during this raining season.

However, the 20 trips of gravel offered to the residents by the NPP Chairman, Saanbeye B. Kangbere cost an amount of GHc 5,000.00 as a trip of gravel cost Ghc 250.00.
