The Wa Municipal Assembly has launched a new master plan that will help change the outlook of the Central Business District to a more welcoming business environment. The Plan dubbed “Local Economic Development” (LED) Master Plan will bring in infrastructural changes to the central business district that will create opportunity for more business owners to operate.
Addressing the media, Hon. Issahaku Tahir Moomin, Municipal Chief Executive for the Wa Municipal Assembly stated that the Municipality is fast growing and certain facilities needed to be changed, hence their move to launching the LED that contains the level they intend to send the Municipality to.
He further indicated that, a study was conducted on the central business districts where property owners were consulted and their views solicited adding that, certain buildings within the Central Business District that runs from the J.J Rawlings street through to the Kambali junction needed to be modernised and that the plan comes in to take care of.
Meanwhile, Anthony Bangdome Dery, Local Consultant at the Wa Municipal Assembly has also revealed that, the plan when executed will boost business activities in the Central Business District (CBD). He said the current business setting in the CBD does not create conducive environment to enhance trading. Mr. Anthony added that the plan will help shape the face of the CBD stressing that, the compound housing system in the CBD will completely change. He said the LED plan will also see to the construction of car packs and provide room for business expansion as well as giving the means to night trading.
On his part, Rockson Niminga-Beks Physical Planner at the Wa Municipality indicated that, the current state of the CBD does not represent growth describing it as being in a state of stagnation. He said the LED plan will offer business operators the opportunity to think big and other business moguls will come down to trade in the Wa Central Business Market. The planner noted the plan will take about 20years to materialised.
