The Member of Parliament for the Wa East constituency, Hon. Godfred Bayong Tangu has donated 300 gas cylinders worth GH¢75,000.00 to the Ghana Education Service in the Wa East district. The gas cannisters are to be distributed to teachers as a form of motivation. Mr Tangu hoped that the move will boost teaching and learning activities in the Wa East district.
Addressing the media at his residence in Wa on Saturday September 19, 2020 Hon. Godfred Bayong Tangu indicated that every year he uses his share of the GETFUND to support education in the constituency. This includes the supply of books and mathematical sets to the pupils. The Member of Parliament said his 2019 share of the fund was used to procure the cylinders as his outfit and the GES seek to motivate the teachers to give off their best.

On her part, Ayishetu Ibrahim Jinsung District Director of Education in the Wa East District who received the donation on behalf of the GES and the teachers, expressed gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the gesture. She said that the items donated will put smiles on the faces of the teachers. Madam Jingsung stated that when the teacher becomes happy, teaching and learning will go on smoothly.

Madam Jingsung called on teachers who will be benefiting from the items to put them to judicious use. She said that the support will save teachers particularly those within the rural areas from the hustle of fetching firewood, the usage of charcoal along with its attendant effects.
