Elected and government appointed Assembly members in the Wa East District have been sworn in to office to commence the running of the Assembly’s business.
Swearing them into office, the Wa circuit Court Judge, His Honour Baah Forson Agyapong cautioned Assembly members to abide by the rules and regulations of the Assembly and the offices occupied in accordance with the constitution of Ghana.
On his part, the District Chief Executive of the Wa East District, Hon. Moses Jotie, charges Assembly members to be active for the forward movement of the Assembly, he acknowlegies the critical roles the Assembly members play in ensuring that the resources of the district are utilised judiciously to the benefit of the citizens.
Hon. Moses earlier appealed to Assembly members to do what it takes lawfully in electing a presiding member for the Assembly so that resources would not be mobilized again to conduct the election again as it was witnessed in the previous administration.
Meanwhile, 25 elected Assembly Members and 11 government appointed Assembly members including the DCE who decided the fate of the next PM went voted either yes or no and the one person in the name of Dr. Ewurah S.K Mahama, Assembly member for Kpalworgu electoral area who contested for the presiding membership position, secured 31 votes by Yes votes and six no votes getting 83.8% victory.
The newly elected Presiding Member called on his colleague Assembly members not to be “African Supporters” adding that “an African supporter is the one that will support you and give you the position and then go back and allow you fail”.
He promised to work hand in hand with the Assembly members to ensure that the progress of the Wa East Assembly is moved to the next level. He added that members of the house must work in unity with one force to get the district the needed development.
