The District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the Daffiama Bussie Issa (DBI) Kuubini David has said due to total neglect by the previous government, the visually impaired NADMO in the DBI District, has now regained its sight under the current government. He further indicated the reediness of the current administration in rebranding NADMO. He was speaking at a brief ceremony at the District to deliver relief items to 40 persons, who were affected by a rain storm.
Mr. Kuubini further disclosed that, “we are not here to give relief items to disaster victims but to bring hope, trust and assurance to the people of DBI District that NADMO is alive and working again. For some years back, NADMO was almost dead and disaster victims had lost hope and confidence in NADMO in DBI but under the leadership of his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, my able self, NADMO is at your door step knocking and whispering good news to your ears about the preparedness of the president to rebrand NADMO”.
According to the District Director, NADMO DBI lacks a means of transport not even a bicycle to operate with. He added that, even relief items for disaster victims are one big problem that embarrasses NADMO official in the District. “During a disaster we run there and access the scene sympathizes with the victims and forwards the report to the Regional NADMO office and wait for support. We are appealing to the Director General of NADMO, the President of the Republic of Ghana, NGOs and other benevolent organizations to constantly supply NADMO offices with relief items” he said.
Kuubini laudered the contribution of the Member of Parliament, Dr. Sebastian Saandare, the District Chief Executive Hon Nadi Imoro Sanda and the regional Director of NADMO.
According to DCE Nadi Imoro Sanda, the relief items are not an antidote to their suffering but something to alleviate it. He said “though the President of the Republic of Ghana his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo is not here with us, this relief items is a prove that he tries to wear the shoes of each and every victim”. Hon Nadi further persuades victims not to see the items as small but the intention with which the items all offered.
A victim, Mr. Patrick Samba speaking to news men appreciated the effort of NADMO and wished that it could have been roofing sheets instead. However, he thanked God for at least receiving something for his loss.
