A young man, aged about 23, has been shot dead by the Ghana Police Service. In a statement signed and copied to Radio Waa News, the Upper West Regional Public Affairs Officer of the Ghana Police Service (GPS), Inspector Gideon Ohene Boateng, stated that the said individual was shot after an attempt to rob occupants of vehicles on the Sawla-Wa Road of their belongings.
“On Monday August 24, 2020 at 2:33am, a Police Officer on board a Hyundai bus with registration number AW 6036-12 driven by Mahama Ahmed with passengers on board was escorting a number of vehicles from axil base at Sawla in the Savannah Region to Wa as a routine duty.”

Amid the ensuing scuffle, the young man was shot by the police man who was escorting the vehicles to Wa, Inspector Ohene Boateng explained. He said the young man was rushed to the Wa Municipal Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
