Plan International (Ghana), Upper West Programmes Unit has on Friday April 24,2020 donated a cash amount of GH¢20,000.00 to the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to help fight Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) which killed 40 people in the Upper West Region.
Iddrisu Kamaldeen Yazeed, District Development Coordinator for plan International, Upper West Unit, presenting the donation to the RCC states that, the outbreak of the deadly Cerebrospinal Meningitis in the region has claimed a lot of lives in the region and Plan Internation (Ghana) which is one of the key development partners as well as an entity that is independent and humanitarian in nature that supports the welfare of children and young people, they thought it obligatory to contribute towards managing if not eradicated the CSM outbreak that has trapped over 200 people in the region causing inconveniences to the good people of Upper West Region.
Meanwhile, Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih who doubles as Chairman for the Pandemic Management Committee, gladly received the cheque on behalf of the Chiefs and the people of the region and thanked management of plan International (Ghana)for their immense contribution to the fight against Cerebrospinal Meningitis I’m the region.
He seized the opportunity and appealed to the general public for more support in the fight against CSM and COVID-19 adding that government alone cannot do it without the support and cooperation of the general public.
Friday’s donation amounts to the second time Plan International is supporting the region to see to the welfare being of the people. Their first donation was done barely a week to support the fight against coronavirus in the region.
