A youth group of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Upper West Region that calls itself coalition of concerned NPP youth accused the Upper West Regional Chairman, S.B Kangbere of suspending people from the party to satisfy his ego.
“All his draconian decisions are born out of self seeking emotions powered by unquenchable desire to pursue his ego at the peril of the party’s health. SB has vowed to suspend any party executive or member who doesn’t agree with him personally” portion of the statement read by Suleman Mohammed Baako indicated.
Spokesperson of the group Suleman Mohammed Baako addressing the press on Monday August 3, 2020 added that Chairman Kangbere suspended the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency chairman and some five communicators of the party and his latest bite was the suspension of the Upper West Regional Youth Organiser Luri Tia Johnbosco for investigation to be conducted after he was fingered in a petition, of bringing discord and factionalism into the party tearing it apart.
The group says the party chairman if not put in check will one day suspend a national officer stressing that he haboured hatred for dissenting views.
“Following to this, he suspended the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency chairman in less than a year in office, again suspended five regional communication team members and the latest is the regional youth organiser, if care is not taken we would not be surprised if he attempts suspending a national officer. His hatred for dissenting views notwithstanding how helpful they may be to the health of the party is legendary and must be condemned by all Patriots who seek the good health of the party”.
Mr. Suleman further indicated that the regional Chairman orchestrated the petition filed against the regional youth organiser adding that, the speed at which the chairman suspended the youth organiser and put up a committee to investigate the matter without recourse to the party’s constitution connotes that there was a self seeking agenda the chairman wants to accomplish.
“It is absurd and repulsive that Chairman Kangbere orchestrated a petition from a fugitive who betrayed the trust of the party in the 2016 general elections. The said fugitive was coached to present a frivolous and empty petition against Mr. Luri Tia John Bosco. With the speed of light, Chairman SB Kangbere set aside due process as outlined in our constitution, went ahead to suspend the fulcrum of the youth wing and further set up a kangaroo committee to oversee the running of the youth wing” the statement added.
The group demands the office of the president and national party hierarchy to immediately reverse the regional executives committee decision of suspending the regional youth organiser accentuating that the youth wing cannot afford to see the fortunes of the party turned down by “self seeking officers who have become cancerous cells to the health of the party in the region”.
The Regional Chairman and the Executives committee of the party are yet to respond to the allegations raised by the youth group.
