Delegates of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) party in the Upper West Region have invested their mandate on 48 years businessman, Mr. Abdul Nasir Saani popularly known as Bunas to administer the affairs of the NDC party in the Upper West Region by electing him as the Chairman of the party on Saturday, September 1, 2018, when the party went for congress in the Wa UDS campus.
Chairman Bunas, defeated the then chairman Mathew Sung Aabo also widely known as Chairman Matco when he polled 307 votes out 393 total votes cast leaving the defeated Chairman Matco with only 81 votes.
Delivering his victory speech, Mr. Abdul Nasir Saani, noted that, he is ready to work with all manner of persons in the party, adding that, he is going to secure all the the five parliamentary seats the party lost in the region during the 2016 general elections. He describes the move as agenda take back all five seats, adding that’’ agenda take back all five seats start now” he stressed.
Other members who secured victory includes, first vice chairman which went to Mr. Kwame Mumuni after polling 112 votes, to be assisted by Mr. Issah Musah who also had 108 votes making him the 2nd Vice Chairman.
The administrator of the party, secretary position went to Mr. Charles Lwanga Pouzung who defeated his close contender by a vote when he secured 179 votes leaving his contender with 178 votes. The incumbent secretary could not canvas for his position after he was left behind on the race struggling with 21 votes, with this, he was also able to run pass Eric Dakurah Faanuba who managed to only polled 10 votes out 393 votes cast.
Deputy Secretary went to Alhaj Nurah Issah Danwana who nips his contender in the mud by polling 346 votes making him the deputy secretary leaving his close competitor with only 43 votes. The Regional treasurer went to the incumbent Prince Razack Abdul Moomin when he had 137 votes elevating him among his contestants after his close contender Carlos Ibrahim Chereh had only 124 votes. Also, deputy treasure went to Boro Benjamin who had 109 votes against Osman Rayan with 82 votes.
Meanwhile, the two former MCE and DCE Hon. Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha and Basiera Sankara went in for the organizer and deputy organizers positions respectively with Nuhu Putiaha polling 276 votes as organizer and Basiera Sankara having 266 votes as deputy organizer.
However, the incumbent communication officer, Issah kantagyere could not retain his position losing it to Mr. Pou-ire Prosper who polled 203 votes leaving Kantangyere with only 184 votes. Deputy communication officer went to Eunice Kaminta haven polled 193 votes and Moomin Abdul Razack Secured the regional Zongo caucus with 221 votes.
The delegates also invested their power on Mr. Nichodemus Dery to run the affairs of the youth in the party by electing him as the regional youth organizer after he polled 34 votes out 47 with his counterpart Prince Mahamood having 11 votes, Rashid Bicson managed to pull only 2 votes whereas Mr. Zakaria Abdul Rahman was able to retained his position as the deputy regional youth organizer with 19 votes out of 47 vote leaving his close contestant with 18 votes.
The election was peaceful conducted by the officials of the Upper West Regional electoral commission headed by the the regional director Mr. Azu Bosco.
