The Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Alhaj Sulaimana Alhassan, has charged Imams and religious leaders to preach against substance abuse as it has come to stay with many youth in society influencing them to commit all sort of social vices.
He noted that, the act has made moral to be diminishing day in, day out, urging that, Imams and all religious leaders must put hands on deck to fight the menace of substance abuse (Drug Abuse) and its related activities
“In fact morals are declining, sports betting and abuse of drugs are common among the youth. These bad practices are resulting into laziness and crime in the society. I want to urge our Imams and Islamic teachers to preach against these negative practices which include gambling, drug abuse and alcoholism to protect the youth from destroying themselves” he indicated.
The Minister made this call when he was addressing Muslims gathered at the Wa, Jubilee park on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul Adha festival celebration, Tuesday, August 21, 2018.
