District Lodge of Ghana, a non-governmental organization has supported the new Upper West Regional hospital with personal protective equipment to aid the facility in the fight against the deadly novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the region.
Addressing the media on Monday August 10, 2020 at the Wa regional hospital, Dr. Sir Edward Gyeder, one of the district rulers says the gesture has been taken to help equip the hospital to carry out its duties so far as fighting COVID-19 is concerned. He charged management of the facility to keep moving despite its operation without seed capital stressing that, District Lodge of Ghana will always come to their aid.
Meanwhile, Mr. Isaac Huud, District Grand Master of District Grand Lodge of Ghana says the organization has helped other health facilities in other parts of the country indicating that they have donated equipment to Nogoche Memorial Institute and other institutions testing and handling COVID-19 cases in Ghana.
On his part, Medical Director of the Upper West Regional Hospital Dr. Robert Amesiya who received the donation on behalf of management and staff of the hospital expressed gratitude to members of District Grand Lodge of Ghana adding that the PPEs arrived at the right time. He promised to put the items into good use.
The items donated included 200 boxes of surgical masks, 150 disposable gowns and 50 gallons of 5litre hand sanitizers.
