UWR: COVID 19 fight, Ussuya Ghana Limited Donates Items Worth GH¢150,000

Ussuya Ghana Limited, a renowned construction firm in Ghana with its Managing Director, Alhaj Yussif Yakubu, a native of Wa, regional capital of the Upper West Region, joining the fight against Coronavirus on Saturday April 4, 2020 donated items worth Gh¢150,000 to the Upper West Region to be distributed among five health facilities in the region.

Presenting the items on behalf of the firm, Transport Manager of Ussuya Ghana Limited, Francis Luther stated that, the gesture was taken as part of their corporate social responsibility to the nation.

“Ussuya Ghana Limited Accra, a construction firm has found it necessary as its corporate responsibility and social responsibility as COVID 19 pandemic is rear, we donating hand sanitizers, afrared thermometers, hand gloves, masks to the region to support, we’ve known that at least Upper West has recorded one we don’t know what is ahead of us, so for the needy, it is not all that can afford these, so the company has seen it as necessary to present this to the region as a support”.

He said the fight against Coronavirus is a fight for all hence their wisdom to extend this helping hand to the Upper West Region that also recorded a COVID 19 positive case.

Mr. Francis admonishes the good people of the region to adhere to the laid down protocols and measures stressing that COVID 19 is rear.

On his part, Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Hafiz Bin Salih who wore an exciting face in receiving the items on behalf of the region at the forecourt of the Regional Coordinating Council appreciated the good works of the construction firm for coming to the aid of the region at a time the region is in dying need of the items.

” I stand on behalf of the chiefs and people of the Upper West region to thank Ussuya Ghana Limited for coming to the aid of the Upper West Region. Since the confirmation of a case in the Upper West Region we have called on worthy sons and daughters of the Upper West Region to come to our aid and I am happy that since that call was made we’ve had a number of donations and others have also indicated their readiness to come to the assistance of the region. Ussuya Ghana Limited is a well known construction firm not only in the Upper West Region but the entire nation and this is not the first time the company is coming to the assistance of the region, the company has done that countless number of times so when I got the information that today they will be presenting these items to the region I was not supprised. I wish them every success in their endeavors”.

He promised to ensure that the item donated are put into judicious use to meet the purposes for which they were purchased.

Dr. Hafiz seized the opportunity and called on other sons and daughters of the region to also contribute their widows mite towards the fight against coronavirus in the region.

“I want to use the opportunity once again to appeal to all and sundry to come to the aid of the region, COVID 19 is real and we must all observe the protocols prescribed by our health personnel, we should wash our hands regularly with soap and running water, we should also observe social distancing it is very very important”.

Meanwhile, the Upper West Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Osei Kufour Afreh who was in a jubilant posture in receiving his share of the items thanked Ussuya Ghana Limited for the honour done the region adding that, his outfit was going to ensure that the health workers who will be beneficiaries of the items use them reasonably as directed.

The items include 200 gallons of hand sanitizers, 20 infrared thermometers, 6 dispensers, 8 boxes of nose masks, boxes of hand gloves and 400 pieces of hand sanitizers (small size 500ml) costing GH¢150,000.00

These are to be distributed among Wa Municipal hospital, Islamic hospital in Wa, Ahmaddiya Hospital at Kaleo, Tumu Municipal Hospital and St. Theresa’s hospital at Nandom.
Let us still keep to regular hand washing and application of hand sanitizer and avoid sitting in congestion as the country goes through this trying time with 205 positive cases of coronavirus recorded.
