As part of complementing government’s effort to the fight against the deadly novel coronavirus, Ussuya Ghana Limited, a construction firm based in Accra has for the second time donated food items and Personal Protective Equipment worth GHS120,000 to some health facilities in the Upper West Region.
The items include 10 pieces of infrared gun thermometres, 6000 pieces of noise masks, 40 pieces of face shields and 100 bags of rice to be distributed among some eight health facilities namely, Wa Regional hospital, Wa Municipal hospital, Nandom hospital, Tumu hospital, Jirapa hospital, Nadowli hospital, Lawra and Gbwollu hospitals.
Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, presenting the items to the Regional health directorate thanked Ussuya Ghana limited for the support given to the region adding that Mondays’ donation forms the second time the construction firm extends its helping hand to the region since the fight against COVID-19 started.
“We are here this afternoon to present some items to the Ghana Health Service, yesterday the Regional Coordinating Council received some items from Ussuya Ghana limited. This is the second time that we have received items from Ussuya Ghana limited in our effort to fight COVID-19 in the region. I wish to take this opportunity to once again commend Ussuya Ghana limited for coming to the aid of the Upper West Region. He has demonstrated that he is a true son of the Upper West region. The items that we have received are valued at GHS120, 000. The first items have been put to good use and it is my expectation that this consignment will also be put into good use. On behalf of the chiefs and people of the Upper West Region and on my own behalf I thank the company for always coming to our assistance any time we call on them” he stated.
Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih seized the opportunity and further appealed to other benevolent organisations to come to the aid of the region as it is still in need of PPEs adding that, no amount of support will be deemed small.
Meanwhile, Upper West Regional Director of Health Service, Dr. Osie Kuffour Afreh explained the need for the COVID-19 patients who are quarantined and isolated to be taken good care of, hence the reason for the bags of rice been added to the PPEs.
Ussuya Ghana limited whose Managing Director, Alhaj Yussif Yakubu comes from the Upper West Region barely a month made similar donation worth GHS150,000 to some selected health facilities in the region that are handling cases of the novel coronavirus of which the Upper West region recorded confirm cases of 8 with the nation having 1,042 confirmed cases with 9 deaths and 99 recoveries.
