The acting and aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Freddy Blay has said though the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is out of power it is not prepared to let the government have peace, therefore we need a strong party, and strong party means stronger executives.
2020 is just around the corner, challenges may be different, approaches may be different, style may be different but that aside, we need a solid well-integrated united front. He further indicated that, the party must be strengthened and energized at the base to support the government they have brought to power. The party needs to re-strategize because what the party was doing in opposition was different, the challenges are new.” He said.
The aspiring National Chairman for New Patriotic Party was addressing the media in at Upland Hotel in Wa, the Upper West Region on his campaign train. Chairman Blay further disclosed to the media that, the one bus one constituency is live, some people thought it was 419, some even thought we went and hid some cocaine money somewhere, the buses are here at the port and they are clearing them. The executives have made attempts to empower the party with some resources to ensure that the party is independent.
Freddy Blay added that, Alhaji Abdul Rahaman Abubakari (Short) who stepped down from the National Chairmanship race has worked with him and is aware of what he(Blay) is capable of. Since Short has been chairman here for a longtime, once he appeals to the delegates here, it will help. “It’s an election one cannot predict, it can be this way or that way,” he asserted.
The acting National Chairman dispels claims that he is not a rooted member of the NPP saying. “I have been in the party for eight years with a membership card but the constitution of the party says once you’ve been in the party for two years, you are a member. When your opponents have nothing to say against you they start biting you, they must be ignored they are just political dinosaurs. NPP is a party for all”.
