The Paramount Chief of Bulenga Traditional Council, Naa Seidu Abdulai, has called on the youth of Wa East Constituency and Ghana at large, especially political communicators and activists to desist from using abusive language against political leaders on social media.
In a speech delivered on his behalf, during the Concerned Youth Of Chakali’s Annual Celebration at Bulenga in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region, the Chief entreated the youth to be circumspect and decorous in their political argument on social media.
He charged them to remain vocal, consistent and constructive in their criticism. Naa Seidu also cautioned them to refuse to be used by politicians to foment violence before, during and after the 2020 Elections.
“It has come to my attention that, some youth in the Chakale traditional area and Wa East for that matter are found of using abusive language on political leaders on social media, let me appeal to all to desist from such acts as it will not bring peace, we should remember, you can put out your message without insulting another. Let us show maturity in our political discussion. It will also be noted that, this is an election year, let me use this opportunity and appeal to all to desist from violence before, during and after the 2020 election…”.
The theme for this year’s celebration was dubbed ” the Role of Chakali Youth in ensuring a transparent, fair and violence-free election 2020″.
