A group calling itself Concern Youth of NPP has petitioned H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to consider reversing his decision to revoke the appointment of Hon. Mohammed Barko Zachariah as the District Chief Executive for the Sissala West district.
According to the group, terminating the appointment of the DCE will spell doom for fortunes of the ruling New Patriotic Party ahead of the December 7 polls.
Hudu Muah, Secretary of the group, in a press conference, stressed that if the President fails to reappoint the former DCE Mohammed Zachariah Bakor, misfortune will befall the party.
“It is our assertion and sustained view that this revocation if not reversed immediately, will plague our dear party into avoidable misfortune going into the 2020 elections. It is worth noting that the eminent escalation of this matter could be very difficult to contain even with the intervention of the Hon. Mohammed Bakor Zachariah.

In furtherance, Muah stated that “we have a duty to jealously protect the supreme interest of our party and not allow this political vendetta to fester. As a result we are proposing to the appointing authority, His Excellency the President of the republic of Ghana to consider reversing the revocation of the appointment of Hon. Mohammed Bakor Zachariah, DCE for Sissala West district in the interest of our great party NPP”.
The group said they suspected foul play on the part of leadership of the party and the government in the Upper West Region. They maintained that there was no reason attached to the firing of the DCE.
“We are also aware of the fact that some party and government officials within the region were part of this conspiracy. They claimed that his continuous stay in office is a threat to the fortunes of the party in the district which is not true. How can a person who worked so tirelessly to secure the unprecedented victory for the party in 2016 and continue to serve the party and government with his honest heart turn around to destroy the very fortunes he had contributed to build? This is illogical to say the least”.
The petition was signed by some 52 members who took part in the press conference organised at Bullu in the Sissala West district of the Upper West Region on Monday October 5, 2020.
The DCE was axed on September 29,2020 in a communique issued by the local government Minister, Hon. Hajjia Alima Mahama on behalf of the President directing the DCE to hand over immediately to the Upper West Regional Minister.
