Community members of Sakai in the Sissala East constituency of the Upper West Region mounted road blocks preventing movement of the NDC presidential candidate’s convoy.
According to the residents, they needed the former president to stop and address them before going to Tumu. As of 9:25pm when the media car arrived at Sakai almost all the community members were seen massed up on the road with high powered zeal to get the presidential candidate step on the soil of Sakai by barricading the road with motorbikes placed across the Sakai-Tumu main road.
The residents who first spotted the NDC regional chairman’s car and the media vehicle refused to hear any other explanation but rather demanded that President Mahama (former) addresses them first hence the intervention of the police to clear the road for the media car.
Meanwhile residents of Buffiama in the Wa East constituency earlier poured on to the Buffiama-Funsi stretch of the road demanding an address from the former president.
Former President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to meet and interact with the chiefs and people of the Sissala East constituency in Tumu as part of his 4-day tour to the Upper West Region. His last stop for his day 2 tour of the region will be at Felimou in the Sissala West constituency after interacting with the Chiefs and people of Gbollu in the Sissala West constituency.
