President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo has lifted the movement restriction imposed in Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi effective 1:00am Monday April 20,2020. He made this known on his 7th Nation’s update of the COVID 19.
The restriction of movement of people in the two regions and part of central region was imposed by the President for the last three weeks as a measure to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus of which Ghana has gotten 10 of its regions in the virus map with a total of 1042 confirm cases of COVID 19 and 99 recoveries and 9 deaths.
The president however stressed the need for the observation of the other laid down measures government outlined adding that the social distancing protocol, ban on social gathering including congregational prayers, performance of funeral rites are still in force.
He preached the need for self discipline adding that the lifting of the restriction does not mean that the country has defeated the country stressing that, government will continue to keep an eye on the virus hot spots and whenever the need arises for those areas to be locked down they will be locked down.
