Poultry Farmers Association of Ghana, Upper West Regional branch has supported the fight against the deadly novel coronavirus in the region by donating 82 crates of eggs to be used in the preparation of food for the COVID-19 patients.
Presenting the crates of eggs to the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council, Upper West Regional Acting Chairman of the Association, Tornia Abu Sidiki says, the donation was done as part of their efforts in supporting the government in the fight against COVID-19 adding that patients of the virus need immune boosters hence the critical role the egg will play in their systems.
He said the virus usually compromise the immune system of the patient stressing that, the in take of egg will help strengthen the patients immune system. Ag. Chairman Tornia seized the opportunity and called on citizens of Ghana to all patronise the services of the poultry farmers by taking egg which will help boost their systems due to its nutritional value.
On his part, Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih who received the donation on behalf of the Chiefs and people of the region promised that the creates of eggs will be used as intended and therefore thanked the association for their timely intervention.
He used the opportunity and called on other benevolent organisations to still come to the aid of the region with PPEs or other items. He said any form of support given to the region in this fight will never be overlooked.
Meanwhile Ghana has recorded 2,074 positive cases of COVID-19 with 212 recoveries as well as 17 deaths.
