National Youth Organiser of the opposition People’s National Convention (PNC) Mr. Awudu Ishaq has finally untied his lips in confirming his intention to contest for the Wa Central Parliamentary seat.
He made this declaration on Radio Waa’s late afternoon show (Yelkaa baahe) on March 3, 2020.
According to him, he has finished with his consultations with other party folks and stalwarts and all indications are clear for him to join the sprint for the Wa Central seat.
After passing through a successful party primaries, Mr. Awudu Ishaq will be battling for the seat with the incumbent Dr. Hassan Rashid Pelpuo of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress alongside the business mogul, Hajia Humu Awudu of the ruling New Patriotic Party and other political parties who are yet to decide on who leads them in the constituency.
Asking when he joins politics and whether he has all it takes to climb up the ladder he is now aiming at, he stated that he joined politics in 2004 and has garnered a lot of experience after knowing the kind of leader the constituents of the Wa Central need.
Mr. Awudu further stated that, he will be the one that can unseat the over decade sitting MP after he was asked whether he has the capability to compete with the other aspirants ” we are the small axe to cut down the big tree” Awudu stressed.
Mr. Awudu Ishaq will be the first timer to write this type of political history in the constituency as the seat is noted to be for the NDC and the ruling NPP for several years has been gathering momentum to capture the seat yet unsuccessful, if Awudu changes the narrative he shall be the history maker. Well it is just a matter of time as to who sits on the Wa Central seat after the upcoming 2020 general elections.
