One of the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary aspirants in the Wa East constituency, Dr. Adams Sorekuong Yakubu Adams has assured the people of Wa East Constituency of supporting about 5000 vulnerable people to get active National Health Insurance Cards.
Speaking to Radio Waa news on the issue, he stated that one major vision he has is to ensure that no resident of Wa East has inactive NHIS card, adding that he will be paying for the registeration /renewal of at least 5000 poor people annually which is estimated to cost him about Gh¢20,000.00 annually.
He again started that, one of his vision is to improve accessibility to the constituency NHIS registeration centres by collaborating with the Assembly to build annex district offices in loggu, Bulenga, Naaha to help the main Funsi office.
Dr. Sorekuong added he is aware that the NHIA annex offices in Bulenga and Loggu are not in good shape and needs serious improvement stressing that he will work on them.
He again stated his intention of enrolling all the residents in the free registeration category he described as children under school feeding and LEAP beneficiaries by busing them to the registeration centres annually.
Dr. Yakubu Surekun has been in the parliamentary candidature sprint with three others including the incumbent Member of Parliament. He has been seen as the favourite among the four contestants but the delegates will be deciding on Saturday 20th June 2020.
