Lawyer Morris Ampaw has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is losing the fight against corruption. Corruption has been institutionalized and endorsed making it seem normal. He added that, members of the ruling government have continuously attacked Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the only person who chooses to fight corruption. The Assin Central MP, Ken Agyapong, lawyer Ankrabea and even some party members who are undercover yet pushing the known ones. Kennedy Agyapong even came out with a video dubbed “who watches the watchman” just to discredit Anas Aremeyaw Anas. Ampaw further disclosed that, even the so-called president spiritual man, Owusu Bempah said he will physically assault Anas Aremeyaw Anas. “The government of the day is quiet whiles its key member attack Anas here and there, Anas! Who has international backing? What can you and I do?” He quizzed. The legal practitioner was speaking to Issaka Abubakari on Radio Waa late afternoon talk show Yele kaa baahe (Case Close)
The outspoken lawyer said, “Corruption is in every government not necessarily the president but his appointees, look at the mansions built by the government appointees. Those who are involved in corruption are becoming more powerful that they employ people to do investigations for them. If we are fighting Anas, we are losing the fight against corruption. If we are able to fight corruption, we would not have to continue borrowing monies from foreign countries. I think Anas should be paid to investigate the government agencies”.
Lawyer Ampaw stated that, the systems ran in Ghana have all broken down. If you, as an individual report a case to the state agencies, instead of them to investigate, they will ask, where your evidence is, knowing very well that you do not have the capacity to do such investigation. He added that, for example there is no single corruption case that EOCO has unveiled independently. If not undercover how do we fight corruption.
He further indicated that, those who claim that Anas’ “modus operandi” if used on Ghanaians, 99% out of a 100% would be captured taking bribe should prove to Ghanaians, the survey that affirms their claims. And they can equally say it is illegal because it (Anas’ modus operandi) has been proven in court during the judges’ case.
Lawyer Ampaw said he has the blood of the NPP and wants the government to be successful, so “I will criticize the government to be better, those who are quiet about the ruling party are haters who want the NPP government to fail”.
