The Deputy CEO of Northern Development Authority (NDA) in charge of programmes Stephen Engmwini, has hinted that the authority will introduce tricycle ambulances.
He said from January next year, every constituency will start enjoying its share of the 1 million dollar. It would be used for buying digitised tricycles for conveying the sick to nearby health facilities, building of roads, providing water and purchasing of normal tricycles.
According to him, parliament has approved the NDA’s budget to introduce these five projects in northern Ghana. He said the authority chose these areas to help improve health service delivery. Sinking of boreholes to provide clean water and reduce water borne diseases improving road network to aid transportation will also be taken care of. “The NDA will also continue to supply tricycles at reduced prices to help eradicate poverty”. He stated.
The CEO noted that, they have started distributing the former SADA acquired tricycles to the various municipal and district assemblies for onwards distribution at affordable prices to interested persons. Responding to the 114 tricycles burnt in the Wa Municipal, Mr. Stephen said, they are yet to receive an official report from the Ghana National Fire Service on the cause of the fire.
He further indecated that, the authority has been working, just that, it has been at the consultation and drawing of programmes under the mandate of the NDA. The NDA is poised on delivering its mandate, he added.
Speaking on Radio Waa’s morning show, Stephen Engmwini, elaborated on the NDA’s upcoming event dubbed “Northern Investment Summit ” which is scheduled for January 9, to January 12, at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium in Tamale.
He called on local investors especially those from the Upper West Region to take advantage of it. Indicating that, the programme may be rotational depending on the success of this maiden one.
