residents of Karni, a community in the Lambussie District expressed gratitude over the establishment of a High-way Police Patrol station at Karni and however hope that a police post will be established in the community to reduce the insecurity in the area.
Speaking with Radio Waa News the Assemblyman, Hon. Charles Gbewaa, stated that the establishment of the highway patrol team will be helpful in addressing the rampant robbery cases and the general insecurity in Karni and other nearby communities have been experiencing; particularly on the Lawra-Han highway, emphasising that police post will be a perfect tool that will help contain armed robbery incidents.
“We made an appeal through the district command to the regional command, our cry was heard and the team was dispatched to the community”.
He added that it took time before such a privilege was offered to the community disclosing that the appeal was made immediately he assumed office in 2015 as Assemblyman.
According to him an appeal for police post was also made since 2015, after he assumed office “I actually wanted a police post for the community”.
Hon Charles said, though the patrol team has not been stationed at the area for long, there have been tremendous changes in the situation not just only in Karni but along the areas the team patrols.
He said that robbery cases that were taking place almost everyday are now a thing of the past.
Mr. Charles Naa Gbewaa also called on the District Assembly, NGOs and benevolent individuals to support in any way to assist the building of a police post to clamp down criminal activities.
