Zoomlion Ghana limited has cleared an unapproved rubbish dump sits at Kambali a suburb of Wa in the Upper West Region.
The exercise was undertaken by Zoomlion Ghana limited after it was being contracted by government to clear the site and others similar to it in other parts of the country.
Addressing the media, the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih expressed gratitude to Zoomlion in the quick response to clearing the site. He appealed to the people of Kambali to stop dumping rubbish in areas that are not designated for the collection of waste. Dr Bin Salih appealed to the media to play a key role in sanitation by educating residents on the dangers of filthy environments.
On his part, Municipal Chief Executive for the Wa Municipality, Hon. Issahaku Tahir-Moomin, said the area was not earmarked as a dumping site. He said the citing of the rubbish dump poses sever risks to the CHPS compound and the market in the area.
Meanwhile, NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Wa Central, Hajjia Humu Awudu noted that, the people of Kambali in her campaigns appealed to her to get the refuse cleared and that she has forwarded to the regional Minister who championed the cause of today’s exercise witnessed in Kambali.
The Assemblyman for Kambali electorial area, Hon. Adams Mashahoodu expressed gratitude to Zoomlion for the exercise. Traders at the Kambali market were excited about the clean up exercise.
