The General Secretary of the NDC in justifying why the NDC stops attending the Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meetings, said the Electoral Commission of Ghana under Jean Mensha has ran away from IPAC stressing that, the IPAC he used to know was for consensus building but the Jean Mensah led Electoral Commission has turned it into a forum when they announce their decisions to the parties instead of consensus building.
He said the last meeting the EC organised, the EC decided to break IPAC into new testament and old testament where they indicated that one, group will meet in the morning and another group in the evening quizzing how consensus can be built on different meetings held at different times adding that “the IPAC as we knew is no longer IPAC, they have wasted everybody’s time”.
Mr. Nketia added that if the EC thinks IPAC should be used for announcing their decisions to parties, then they should resort to transmitting such decisions to the parties through email addresses rather calling for IPAC meetings where they only communicate their decisions and thinking to the parties.
The NDC’s Chief scribe made this comment at Radio Waa 92.1fm during a presentation made by the Inter Party Resistance Against New Voter Register. He was accompanied by the Chairman of the group Bernard Mornah who doubles as the National Chair of the PNC as well as the Deputy General Secretary Peter Boamah Otokunor.
