Upper West Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP ) Hon S.B Kangbere has charged media houses to do developmental stories and do not vilify political individuals due to little inducement.
He made this known when he paid a courtesy on the management and staff of Radio Waa 92.1fm. The visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship of the NPP with the media house.
The day’s media tour was set to visit all the local radio stations and the regional correspondents in the region. “Political parties no matter the denomination need to work with the media to foster peace and development” Kangbere indicated.
S.B Kangbere says journalists must hold high their profession devoid of personal prejudices adding that, vilification of political individuals on airwaves even without knowing them is unhealthy and can cause confusion in the region ahead of the 2020 general election.
The heavy weight Chairman as he is affectionately called said, one of the core responsibility of the media is to educate or sensetized the public. He therefore appealed to media houses to desist from reportage that may harm the development of this country.
He urges media houses to identify societal cankers like bush burning and persistently report on it until the listeners begin to change their attitude on it.
Hon S.B Kangbere tapped the shoulders of the management and staff of Radio Waa for upholding the professional standards all these years.
“I tuned to radio Waa, I don’t hear insults or hear a presenter deliberately run down the personality of an individual even without knowing the person personally. You can’t fathom why, whether is the heck of it. Radio Waa has not said anything questionable about me”.
