Coronavirus: 42 Year Old Confirmed Positive in Upper West Region
Spread the love

The Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Hafiz Bin Salih has revealed to the media that a 42 year old Ghanaian who visited UK and Spain and returned to Ghana through Egypt has been confirmed positive of coronavirus after the victim joined a public transport from Accra to Wa.

The Minister made the revelation at a press conference held this afternoon at the conference hall of the RCC in collaboration with the Regional Health Director, Dr. Osei Kufour Afreh.

According to the Health Director, the patient started showing signs 8 days ago and a test conducted turns positive about two hours ago.

He further indicated that the region has gotten some protective materials for medical staff and personnel have gone for training adding that, there is no fear or panic with regards to the region’s preparedness towards handling cases of COVID 19.

The Minister however called on the people of the region not topanic about the situation as it is an imported case and the health officials are on top of the case.

The confirmed case has made the region as the third region in Ghana that confirmed cases of coronavirus. Contact tracing has since started as the patient was reported to have travel from Accra to Wa through a public transport.

We don’t want news from journalists but rather emmidiate news from GHS through the appropriate channels. We don’t want fear and panic

Have you been able to trace all the people he had contact with? If No, then we are all dead.

    The information is not complete..
They should tell us the day he returned to Wa, the transport he used. VIP, OA, STC or VVIP. how do you start contact tracing if the information isn’t complete. Upper west never took this thing serious. The Man should be responsible and tell us everything necessary.

Congrats to the Minister and his team for the great work done however there is the need for the good people of Ghana especially those in Upper West to panic. Why?
    1. Already innocent souls are being infected with the virus through the public means he boarded.
    2. This horizontal transmission may be precarious if cogent strategies are not taken to check the duration, venue and the vehicle number he boarded.
Finally, I appeal to the government to came out with an initiative which will help trace the transport or travel details of people in Ghana and our Regional minister and all staff workers should be up and doing as they have already started to nip this canker in its bud. The life of the innocent Ghanaian matters.
    Thank you

is this person normal at all? At the heat of this situation, you moved round all these endemic places to you home
Can you imagine the number of people you might have infected.
why must to add pains and trauma to our poverty?
    why?
