The Upper West Regional Minister designate, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih has urged natives of the Upper West who are financially sound to come and invest in the region to propel its development.
He made the call in Wa on Friday February 26, 2021 during the commissioning of a new office established by Sory@law firm in Wa.
“Few months ago, I had the privilege and honor of visiting this facility and today by the grace of God we have commissioned the facility and the firm will officially commence its activities in the Upper West region. It is commendable that lawyer Thaddeus Sory has decided to come and open a branch of his firm here in the region considering the height he has reached, many wouldn’t have thought that he will come to the Upper West region to practice”.
Dr Hafiz added that, the law firm has not come to amass financial benefits but rather to serve the region.
He stressed that they came to add to the development initiatives of others in the region and appealed to the sons and daughters of the region to also emulate the step taken by Lawyer Sory by coming back home to invest in other to avert the unemployment plight of the people of Upper West.
Meanwhile, Lawyer Thaddeus Sory, the managing partner of sory@law, says the region has produced illustrious personalities but most of them moved to the Southern Sector of the country thereby neglecting the region.
“We all know that a lot of good people that the region has produced when they are the best they run down south when things are hard. We have decided that the people who belong here also deserve the best service, for which reason, if we are giving our best service else where, the people in this region also deserve our best service”.
According to to him, sory@law was present in the region and providing services to the people before its inauguration. “We have always been present in the region, present in the sense that you will always find us in court representing our clients” he explained.
However, Lawyer Clement Eledi , President of the Upper West Regional Bar Association, says the development of the
Upper West Region rests on the shoulders of its natives.
“We often say that nobody can build Ghana for us . We can build Ghana. Similarly, nobody can build the region for us ; it is we the Upper Westners who can build the region for ourselves”.he stated.
Lawyer Eledi again indicated that the presence of Sory@Law in the region will help improve the practice of law, adding that there are several professional lawyers from the Upper West Region, but sory@law’s office is the first professional law firm to be established in the history of the region.
He said the lawyers in the region are faced with challenges, including the lack of permanent residence for some judges and other Judicial service personnel contributes to their inability to stay.
