The National Democratic congress has rejected the 2020 election results describing it has been flawed and rigged to favour the New Patriotic Party. The party says it will seek redress to get the results both parliamentary and presidential declared in favour of the NDC as they believe the NDC won the elections legitimately.
In a press conference organised on Wednesday night December 9, 2020, addressed by the Minority Leader in the out gone parliament Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, he says the EC has connived with the NPP to rig the elections and the NDC upon having several consultations comes to a conclusion that they will contest the legitimacy of the results and will never accept the declaration of the sitting president as winner of the 2020 elections.
“We roundly reject and out rightly reject the declaration of the sitting president as the winner of the 2020 presidential elections, in due course our flagbearer his Excellency John Dramani Mahama will address the nation and the International Community supported by technical evidence” Haruna Iddrisu noted
Meanwhile the National Democratic Congress did not mentioned when and where they are going to seek for the redress but keeps emphasising that the NDC has won majority in Parliament and again won the presidential elections.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana declared the 2020 presidential results in favour of the ruling New Patriotic Party’s candidate H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who secured 6,730,413 representing 51.59% whiles the NDC’s flagbearer H.E John Dramani Mahama polled 6, 214,889 representing 47.36%
