Vice President of the Republic, H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has indicated that the NPP government in their next term in office will initiate processes that will give students within the tertiary level except nursing and teacher training colleges to get access to students loan without having to provide a guarantor.
He said students access to tertiary education in Ghana is about 17% due to the inability of many students to afford fees for their education indicating that the free access to students loan will help increase enrollment in to the tertiary education. The policy announced is part of the NPP manifesto promises that will be put before Ghanaians in the electioneering campaigns.
The Vice President said the NPP government is aware that, the success of the Free Senior High School will produce a lot of SHS graduates who will want to acquire tertiary education and with the implementation of the access to students loan without a guarantor will impact the lives of many including beneficiaries of the FSHS to have access to tertiary education.
He made this known during the launch of the NPP 2020 manifesto at the UCC-NEC Hall which is currently ongoing.
