The Upper West Regional Directorate of Education has produced a list of prospective workers of the service due for retirement in 2018.
Speaking to Issaka Abubakari on Radio Waa’s flagship programme, Yelkaabaahi, the Regional Director of Education Mr. Evans Kpebaa disclosed that, due processes were followed before the list was released, adding that those who doubted their retirement age were given the opportunity to provide at least five documents to back their claims. Birth certificate, School certificate, Baptismal card, SSNIT, Passport.
Mr Evans Kpabaa, however stated that there are challenges within the system which were due to the negligence of some of the workers themselves. He urged parents to endeavor to acquire birth certificates for their children as most of those affected were made to produce a birth certificate that was ten years old from birth.
The Regional Education Director added that, though he is aware that some of them are not up to retirement age,he cannot defend them without the required documents.
